How is the resin bound surface installed?

1) Before installing the resin bound surface the area beneath where it is going to be laid is checked to ensure it is in good condition.  This is because the permeability of the surface is dependent on this.  If there is an existing driveway, it will be excavated and removed.  (At New World Resin Driveways we have all the machinery required for carrying out excavation and ground works or we can source the machinery).

2) The area is then completely flattened and levelled to ensure the surface area is sound.

3) Any preparatory work is carried out such as installing footings for brickwork such as walls.

4) A sub base is added.  At this stage of the process it is usually an MOT Type 1 Limestone sub base as it’s ideal for driveways and it’s permeable.

5) A porous tarmac base is spread over the driveway area.  This is an open pore tarmac so it’s also permeable allowing for good drainage.

6) The next part of the process is to mix the resin and aggregate.  This is cold mixed on site using a process that ensures every particle of stone is thoroughly covered in resin, forming a structurally stable 3D matrix.

7) The mixture is poured out on to the base and spread out evenly.  As the aggregate mixed with the resin is laid, tiny voids are created that enable water to drain through.

8) The mixture sets very quickly so the driveway can be used very soon after the resin bound surface is in place.

*No drainage system needs to be installed as any surface water simply drains away through the permeable layers into the ground.
